At the end of 2021 I posted vintage photos of my two Italian-American families. To which, I received an overwhelmingly great response.  Since then, I have connected with my dad’s first cousin Nicola in Italy who has sent me photos of my paternal grandmother’s brother’s. By shear chance Nicola contacted me just a few months before our scheduled trip to Naples and other parts of Italy. Nicola is the son of my grandmother’s half sister Anna, who’s weeding photo you see above. What really blew me away was that Nicola and his daughter took us to Torre Del Greco, where my grandmother’s youngest brother settled to meet two of my dad’s first cousins both in their 90’s.  If this wasn’t shocking enough they had photos of my family in the USA from over 80 years ago! Since then, Nicola has sent me photos of not only my grandmother’s brothers but photos that my grandmother send from Italy to her father with her handwritten notes. I hope that you enjoy, and if you are researching… never give up. Nancy Triggiani-Musco talks about starting her research young and how eventually a discovery on an overlooked census led her to completing her Italian citizenship. Nancy and her husband run a music studio in NJ and you can view her interesting links below. My husband and I own a music school in northern New Jersey and I’m attaching the link to it, as it has important relevance to my Italian family history. https://www.westwoodmusicstudios.com My bio from our website: https://www.westwoodmusicstudios.com/faculty.html My personal blog site: https://nancytriggiani.com This is a link to a story I wrote about what happened at the Italian Consulate while waiting for my citizenship interview: https://nancytriggiani.com/2019/03/to-the-dear-old-man-at-the-consulate/ My music bio, which relates  strongly to my Italian heritage and the new connections I’ve made in Italy: I will explain further in the email containing the photos. https://nancytriggiani.com/music/ Visit Our Shop Podcast Click here to join our group on Facebook Video

Click here to join out Facebook group Day 8 had us taking the train from Naples to Scilla. When Gianfranco picked us up he asked if we had pastry at Gran Cafe Gambrinus the day before. When we said no that we did not have the chance.  “We have time, we’ll go now” was the answer. You can’t refuse Gianfranco. We hated to say goodbye at the station as Gianfranco became a real friend. The train trip was about five hours, but I booked first class as it was only a little more money. The seats were comfortable, but there wasn’t any refreshment service. Luckily we brought our own. When we arrived in Scilla, after about a 20 minute car ride from Reggio Calabria, we were amazed to say the least. The photos don’t do it justice.  After checking into the Hotel Scilla a small family run hotel we had time for a nice leisurely walk down to Ristorante Il Casato ( photo on the right ) were we had dinner booked. Now I am not a fish person, but I figured were here, looks good I’ll go for it. Let me tell you the food was amazing. It was as though the chef plucked the fish out of the sea and cooked it.  If you are ever in Scilla, DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. Walking back up to the hotel took a lot more effort than the way down, but we made it! Tomorrow the big day in Montebello and Fossato. https://www.italiangenealogy.blog/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_0307.mov
